Daytrip Montserrat for a wonderfull day!

The Barcelona weather forecast for this weekend is great (just as last weekend) and the autumn is a wonderful time to get out of the city and go visit some of the lovely Catalan countryside.

One possibility for a day-trip is to the spectacular Benedictine monastery at Montserrat, founded in the 11th century, which is about 60km away.

For cyclists, it's about 10.5 km to the Category 1 top; for the less energetic, take the Ferrocarrils (FGC) train from Plaza de España to Monistrol de Montserrat, and from there the 20-minute cremallera rack-railway ride to Montserrat.

Don't miss the Sant Joan funicular, which takes you right to the mountain top (1236m), in which case you'd do best to get yourself a Transmontserrat ticket, which includes all the different trains, including the Barcelona Metro.

On Carrer Pelai, just off the Plaza Catalunya, you have the FGC shop, for full information and tickets, as well as the possibility of reserving accommodation, if you want to make a weekend of it.

Besides that, there are a lot of fun trips you can attempt to enjoy your stay in Barcelona!

Coming soon: The Prodigy!

The Prodigy is an English electronic music group formed by Liam Howlett in 1990 and they are known for high-quality live performances. They have sold nearly 20 million records worldwide which is unequalled in dance music history.

They will give a spectacular concert in the Sant Jordi Club, in Barcelona the 3rd of December!

Their music consists of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore, industrial and breakbeat in the early 1990s to electronic rock with punk vocal elements in later times.

In 2007, The Prodigy entered a new chapter of their career, signing a deal with UK independent label, Cooking Vinyl, to set up their own label Take Me To The Hospital. The label, which will be the platform for their next album release, will subsequently act as an outlet for new talent that they find. Much of that year was spent writing and recording new material for their forthcoming album Invaders Must Die, due for release on March 3rd, 2009.

´The Prodigy + Enter Shikari´, 3rd of December, be there!

FC Barcelona V. Real Madrid – 29th of November

On the 29th November 2009 FC Barcelona is once again playing against Real Madrid at their home ground, Camp Nou. The game is called “El Clásico” and is played twice every season, the second game will be in April 2010.

Earlier this year, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed that there was an agreement in principle between Barcelona and the Italian club, Internazionale (Inter) for the 28 year old Swedish born player Zlatan Ibrahimović to join Barca in exchange for Samuel Eto’o, plus a fee. On the 26th July Zlatan arrived to Barcelona, he was welcomed and presented to a crowd of over 60,000 people at Camp Nou the day after.

The tickets for these rivalry games between Barca and Real Madrid sell out extremely quickly and at the end they are very expensive. Almost everyone would agree that going to one of the ”El Clásico” games is unforgettable. The strong tension between the two teams and the almost sold out arena (110.000 people) truly makes it an experience of a lifetime. Book your ticket today!

Well, that's it for now; have fun at the match!
